Zomaris is a constitutional monarchy set mostly on eastern Gauss. It also controls the Lagrange Land Bridge that links the continents of Gauss and Newtown. Without any other major nations nearby, Zomaris has traditionally been isolated.
Zomaris has largely concentrated on the internal well-being of its citizens, praising itself on general lack of income inequality and maintenance of personal and political freedoms. However, thanks to very strict economic controls, the economy is not as strong as others in Sohcahtoa.

Government Structure and Political Makeup
The executive functions lie in the hands of the Monarch of Zomaris, the head of the Zomar family who has ruled Zomaris for the entirety of its history. The Monarch has the power to issue orders and engage in executive functions but they do not have the force of law.
The Legislature is divided into two bodies: the Assembly and the Senate.
The Assembly is a 200-member body that is voted with a party list. Voters select a party, not an individual. For each half-percent, a party gets a seat. Each party that meets a threshold minimum (of a number far less than a single seat, but large enough to prevent truly crazy parties) also has a seat in the Extension. Members of the Extension cannot speak in the Assembly, but the Extension may vote and will receive a percentage of empty-seat Assembly vote reflective of the relative amount of excess vote their party obtained. Parties are allowed to engage in horse trading and other events to consolidate this excess to fill empty seats.
The Senate has no defined number of seats. The smallest province by population gets a single seat, and seats are apportioned in such a way that each Senator represents a number of people within 50% of every other, the range of possible representatives determined by the seat held by the smallest province. Each province may choose their own method of apportionment, as long as elections are fair.
Bills always originate in the Assembly. The purpose of the Assembly is to pass good law, so anything that is not good for a majority of people is not worth considering. The Senate’s job is primarily to ensure that small groups of people are not harmed by supposedly good policy. A bill still needs the Monarch’s approval to pass, unless it passes with either a two-thirds majority in both the Assembly and Senate, or a three-fourths majority in the Assembly alone.
